Erin O'Neill

Data Processing Specialist and Web Designer

Erin joined the Scripps Whale Acoustic Lab in 2007 to work on the Voices in the Sea project. After graduating with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Computing in the Arts (Visual Arts) from UCSD, she spent a few years in Little Rock, Arkansas working as a graphic designer for the United States Air Force. Returning to Scripps in 2011, Erin joined the Data Processing team while continuing any needed website work. Over the last 10 years Erin oversaw the processing and management of approximately 500 data sets.

When not surrounded by piles of hard drives, you can usually find Erin enjoying some sort of outdoor activity, spending quality time with her wife and 5 dogs, or watching movies.

Not coming from a science-based background, it has been incredibly rewarding to be a part of this team. Surrounded by researchers, students, and staff all dedicated to obtaining and analyzing the data needed to further our understanding of marine mammals and our impact on them — it is truly amazing to be a small supporting part of that effort.
